UFWC Match #955

Netherlands 4-0 Belarus

21st March 2019
De Kuip, Rotterdam (01') 1:0 Depay
(21') 2:0 Wijnaldum
(55') 3:0 Depay (penalty)
(86') 4:0 van Dijk It took the reigning UFWC Champion only 50 seconds to score the first goal in 2019 - Memphis Depay used a moment of surprise to make the belarussian defence look like still sleeping. Even though the Dutch didn't keep the pressure on a high level, after 21 minutes Wijnaldum converted a assist from Depay with a close range shot, marking the 2:0 lead for Oranje. After the break Netherlands proved their role as favorite in that match by dominating the team from Belarus - resulting into a penalty, with Depay leaving no doubts and scoring the 3rd goal for Netherlands. Belarus showed some good scenes, forcing Cillessen to show his class, but the first ever UFWC goal (in Belarus' 4th match) just didn't happen .... Some hope seemed to rise when Kenny Tete, just entered the match as the 3rd dutch substitute player, pulled up with a hamstring injury, so the Netherlands had to manage the final 20 minutes of the match with only 10 men. Sounds like a problem? Not for Virgil van Dijk, marking the final result after 86 minutes. Next up is Germany to challenge the Netherlands on Sunday 24th March 2019.
