UFWC Match #962

Belarus 1-2 Netherlands

13th October 2019
Stadion Dinamo, Minsk (32') 0:1 G. Wijnaldum
(41') 0:2 G. Wijnaldum
(54') 1:2 S. Dragun
For the 6th time Belarus was participating a UFWC match and until then each of the attempts were lost and not a single goal was scored from the Belarussians - one of these 2 facts changed in UFWC match #962. The first half in Minsk was dominated by the dutch Elftal and crowned by 2 goals from Gini Wijnaldum (1-0 nice header and the 2-0 an absolute stunning distance shot from half left!) putting Oranje in a nice lead at halftime. So far everything looked similar to all the previous title matches from a belarussian perspective. But 2nd half offered a different view as Stanislav Dragun scored the 1-2 after 53 minutes - 1st ever UFWC goal for Belarus! Some further good chances even raised hopes for the eastern european team, but Netherlands gained control over the match after a while again and Wijnaldum even had another chance to make it a hat-trick, but wasn't successful. Match ended with the dutch to defend their title with a 2-1 victory but any UFWC enthusiasts in Belarus would still celebrate their special goal.
