Venezuela 1-0 Uruguay

Maracaibo, 27/09/06 Daniel Arismendi's late goal was enough to give Venezuela a shock UFWC title match victory over Uruguay in this Copa America warm-up friendly. Arismendi converted a pass from Ricardo David Paez in the 81st minute. Uruguay will claim to have fielded a depleted side, missing the likes of Forlan and Perez, but Venezuela also had absentees, including star men Arango and Moran. Venezuela are UFWC champions for the very first time. They become the 44th nation to win the UFWC title, victorious in only their second ever title match. The team are nicknamed La Vinotinto, or The Burgundy, and star players include Real Mallorca midfielder Juan Arango and leading scorer Ruberth Moran. Venezuela, with a population of around 27 million people, traditionally prefers baseball, and its football team was ranked 80th in the world by FIFA at the time of the UFWC victory. The next UFWC title match is a return friendly that gives Uruguay a chance to regain the title and exact revenge upon Venezuela.
