Slovenia added to UFWC fixture list

A new potential UFWC title match has been added to the fixture list ahead of the World Cup finals in Brazil this summer. Current Unofficial Football World Champions Uruguay will play Slovenia on 4 June, ten days before kicking off their World Cup tournament. Of course, this match will only be a UFWC title match if Uruguay are still the title holders on 4 June. Ahead of that, Uruguay must see off a challenge from Austria. There's still time for further fixtures to be announced, but as things stand the game between Austria and Uruguay in Klagenfurt on 5 March will be the next UFWC title match. Austria didn't qualify for the World Cup finals, and so far aren't due to play any other qualifiers in the run-up to the tournament. (They will play Iceland and the Czech Replublic.) So, unless further fixtures are announced, if Austria take the UFWC title from Uruguay it will not be present at Brazil 2014. Slovenia won't be going to the World Cup, either. And they don't have a good record in the UFWC. They've played in three UFWC title matches, and failed to win any of them. But if Slovenia did manage to defeat Uruguay to become UFWC champions there would still be a chance of the title being contested in Brazil. That's because Slovenia will then play Argentina, who have qualified for the World Cup, and could therefore win the unofficial title and take it with them to the official tournament. So will Uruguay retain the title and take it to the World Cup? Or will Austria or Slovenia spoil their party? We'll have full coverage, including news of any additional fixtures right here.
