That's because across the full lineage of the Unofficial Football World Championships, which stretches back to 1872, the Scots have won more UFWC title matches than any other nation. After defeating Armenia by the same scoreline on the previous day, Romania beat Slovenia 2-0 to retain the UFWC title and win the Cyprus International Football Tournament. Ionut Mazilu scored in the first half, and Solvenia's Andrej Pecnik netted an own-goal in the second. 24 hours earlier, Romania had easily beaten Armenia with goals from defender Vasily Maftei and Razvan Cocis. In an odd end to the tournament, Romania finished top of Group 2, while Greece finished top of Group 1, but there was no match between the two sides, who shared the Cypriot title.
A new potential UFWC title match has been added to the fixture list ahead of the World Cup finals in Brazil this summer. Current Unofficial Football World Champions Uruguay will play Slovenia on 4 June, ten days before kicking off their World Cup tournament. Of course, this match will only be a UFWC title match if Uruguay are still the title holders on 4 June. Ahead of that, Uruguay must see off a challenge from Austria...
